Keeping warm the green way
No need for new equipment – run your existing oil-fired boiler on BRL’s biodiesel, enjoy tax breaks, and drastically reduce harmful emissions in the process.
Why use biodiesel for heating?
- Minimal up-front expenditure – only minimal modifications are required for your existing boiler to run on biodiesel
- Tax breaks – HMRC excise duty is not payable on biodiesel heating oil
- Meet sustainability targets – using biodiesel is an ideal way for new buildings and commercial applications to meet carbon reduction targets
Minimal up-front expenditure
Your boiler can be easily modified to run on biodiesel. This is a significantly cheaper way to reduce your carbon emissions compared to other renewable technologies which require expensive capital investment.
As for standard heating oil, biodiesel used for heating does not attract any HMRC excise duties. Many boiler systems use red diesel for which the off-road rate of duty applies.
Meet sustainability targets
A range of commercial boilers are available that are designed to run specifically on 100% biodiesel to provide on-site generation of renewable heat. This is an ideal way to meet sustainability requirements for new buildings and commercial applications. Contact us for more information.
The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) is currently lobbying for government incentive to help expand the use of bio-liquids in domestic and commercial oil-fired boilers. Their studies show that a 30% blend of bio-liquids and kerosene can be safely used in suitably modified systems, which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 28% compared to using kerosene alone*.
